Jigsaw Foundation supports Progress For All

Shaw Street social group is one of New Charter’s Independent Living Schemes in Mottram.

The group’s project Progress for All, based at William Ford House, has been awarded £2,724.50 from the Jigsaw Foundation. The group intend to create a safe and accessible patio area in their lovely communal garden. The garden is currently only accessible via a grassed area which is rough and uneven.

Many of our residents living at the scheme are very elderly and struggle with mobility problems. They are not all able to use the garden area because they can’t get their walking frames across the grass safely and are frightened of falling or slipping.

The group will use the funding so all our  residents will be able to utilise the garden. Residents can then spend more time outside and have a change of scenery in the fresh air with friends and family.

The difference this will make to our residents’ health and well-being is priceless!

Jigsaw Foundation is an exciting £500,000 fund to support local projects run by charities, resident and community groups, voluntary organisations, social enterprises and partner agencies.

There is still funding available for 2019 projects that will benefit our New Charter tenants. You can find out more or apply here.  Funding of up to £25,000 will be voted on by tenants through our Jigsaw Rewards surveys.

Jigsaw Rewards is an innovative online tenant engagement programme that encourages our tenants to provide regular feedback on services and plans for the future.  The website (https://rewards.jigsawhomes.org.uk) allows you to take part in as many or as few activities as you like and at a time that it is convenient to you. In return, you will receive points which can be exchanged for high-street gift vouchers or credits towards your rent account.
