Jigsaw Group set to provide ‘Isolation’ Food Packs to schoolchildren across Tameside

School children across Tameside will be provided with food and activity packs to help them if they are sent home and told to isolate due to COVID-19.

The neighbourhood engagement team from Jigsaw Homes Group, which manages hundreds of homes in the borough, have prepared the packs to help families in its priority areas when their children cannot attend school. While four schools are benefiting from the scheme in Tameside, Jigsaw Group is working with a total of 11 schools across the areas it has homes.

They will be delivered on request to residents who need a little extra support, particularly those families whose children would normally receive free school meals. A second pack of fresh food will also be provided for the following week of the isolation period.

Items include breakfast cereals, milk, pasta, sauces, bread, snacks and fruit, as well as colouring books and pens to help keep younger ones occupied.

Dawn Goodyear, Operations Director – Neighbourhoods at Jigsaw Homes Group said: “We noticed an increase in demand for food provisions during national lock down, and with the North West now in Tier 3, we want to help and support our communities where we can. We are hoping these packs will help families in need and especially more so during the half-term holiday.”

Throughout half-term, Jigsaw Group will be providing support for some areas with the food provision packs and Cook and Eat sessions, where ingredients and recipes are provided for families to make nutritional meals at home.
