Braving the weather to support local families

Braving the weather to support local families

The Neighbourhood Engagement team, in partnership with the Smallshaw-Hurst Children’s Community (affiliated with Save the Children), braved the rain five weeks in a row when delivering activities for families across Ashton.

Together, they provided over 200 packed lunches to young people and delivered activities and outdoor games. This contributed towards families’ health and financial wellbeing during the summer school holidays, when children who receive free school meals may have gone hungry. It also promoted health and wellbeing by getting children and their parents exercising.

Save the Children collated information on services provided for children and young people in the community and will use this data to implement measures to improve their lives.

The Neighbourhood Engagement team also handed out information about recycling and energy advice and also encouraged tenants to sign up to Jigsaw Rewards.

Everyone had a great time taking part in the fun activities and games.
