Service Manager Housing First

Reporting directly to the Head of Threshold, you will lead a team providing dispersed permanent accommodation and intensive asset based support to predominantly female customers, with complex needs, using the Housing First Model.

We need someone who understands operational pressures and who can deliver high quality provision, performance and good practice from services. You will be responsible to ensure we continue to deliver safe and effective support to our customers whilst delivering against contractual targets.

The Housing First approach is substantially different from traditional service models so experience of Housing First/asset based working/CTI/ trauma informed care or physiologically informed environments is desirable.

The Person

To fill this essential post we are looking for a forward-thinking individual with significant experience of staff and service management, including casework support and supervision.

Resilient and determined you must have experience of leading a service delivery team in supported housing, advice, homelessness, care or similar setting working with vulnerable people in a truly person centred way.

With a strong advocacy approach you must have our client’s support and recovery at the heart of everything you do, working with customers in an asset based way. The Housing First principles will permeate and underpin the way you work, and the way you manage your team and customers.

You will be, or be prepared to become, an expert in Housing First and its principles, ensuring the high fidelity of our programmes.

You will also be an enthusiastic networker, be able to promote Threshold Housing First as well as identify additional funding streams and gain support of commissioners as well as national and regional bodies.

Threshold Housing First already has a superb national and international reputation so you would be joining the business at a very exciting time.

About Threshold

Threshold is a charity with over 40 years’ experience of delivering accommodation and support to vulnerable people. Threshold is part of the Jigsaw Group, one of the largest housing groups in England with over 33,000 homes across the North West and East Midlands.

We offer services across the spectrum of needs, including supported accommodation for people experiencing multiple and complex needs, community based support for people who require low to medium support, along with intensive housing management for people with lower support needs.

Threshold has developed expertise in gender specific service, housing first and domestic violence services and has one of the UK’s largest and longest running Housing First Services for women.

About Threshold Housing First

Threshold Housing First was set up in response to a lack of housing solutions for women offenders with complex needs, and long histories of homelessness.  It was the only Housing First service specifically for women offenders anywhere in the world.

Evaluated by the University of York and described a very high level of fidelity to the original Tsemberis model, Threshold Housing First was recently referenced in the MOJ female offender strategy as an excellent example demonstrating recidivism  and has  also featured at the Housing First International Conference in Amiens and at the FEATSA conference in Berlin and mentioned in CRISIS ‘Everybody In’ plan to end homelessness.

Constantly iterating and evolving our programmes, we have in the last year used our knowledge and experience to extend our Housing First provision to individuals fleeing DV (including some with NRPF) and a bespoke female rough sleeper programme.

We offer a Contributory Pension Scheme, annual leave from 25 days plus 8 Bank Holidays, Simply Health membership, a voluntary benefits programme including childcare vouchers and learning and development opportunities.
