What do I pay?

Why pay rent? If you are a New Charter Homes tenant you have made a clear decision that you want to live in one of our properties. As well as being able to offer you well maintained homes with  modern facilities we also offer a range of other services which include, repairs, home improvements and environmental improvements and support of community initiatives.

The provision of these services, costs money and New Charter uses its rental income to fund them. This is why it is very important that all tenants pay their rent regularly and on time.

Payment of rent should be your FIRST priority and we make it very easy for you to make your payments.

Consequences of non-payment: Rent payments are a condition of your tenancy and failure to make those payments can result in legal action being taken and risk of being evicted. The courts may award costs of up to £325.00 that you will be expected to pay. We expect you to actively engage with your Account Manager who will take a firm but fair approach and will only consider possession proceedings as a last resort.

Your rent account is monitored on a weekly basis, and your account manager will be in contact with if payments are not made.

You will receive statements on a quarterly basis, so that you can be clear on the status of your rent account.

You can register to the Customer Hub and check your account details on line.

Help and support:  If you miss a payment, then you should contact New Charter Homes immediately. Staff will be helpful and supportive of your situation and attempt to find a resolution.

We have a Welfare Benefit and a Debt Advice Team (MoneyWise) who can provide free specialist advice and support. The MoneyWise team holds regular surgeries on the following days and times:
