Value, Impact and Performance

We believe that our services should offer great value for money, meet our high performance targets and have a positive impact on the communities we serve. We have brought these three strands together under the heading 'Value, Impact and Performance' (V.I.P.)

We want to demonstrate that we are making a difference, both socially and economically. You can see some of the key ways we do this below:

Support Services

  • In 2012/13, our teams worked with 46 ex-offenders and successfully helped a number of them to get jobs, get help with their emotional distress and get help with their substance misuse.
  • This work is generating savings worth £756,550 for the Council and other partners.

Great Opportunities

  • In 2012/13, New Charter invested £61,660 in our ‘Great Opportunities’ programme.
  • We helped 80 local people to get jobs – and 135 more to take part in courses and volunteering.
  • In addition to the social and emotional benefits of this work, Great Opportunities has generated savings worth over £709,200 for our local and national partners.

Money Care

  • In 2012/13 we invested £132,369 in our Money Care Team, who provide advice on welfare benefits and dealing with debt.
  • Over the year, this team:
     –  Helped 332 clients claim over £941,867 in welfare benefits (an average of over £2,836 per customer).
     –  Worked with 343 clients to get debts written off to the value of over £1,260,830.

Building Company

  • In the last financial year our Building Company spent £9.8m on materials.
  • We were able to complete 99.58% of repairs on the first visit, saving us time and money and providing a great customer experience.
  • Our Property Services Team have made efficiency savings of £606,000.
  • 39 apprentices have been recruited since 2001, with 23 still employed by our Building Company.
